Why God’s Way?

Skeptics sometimes ask, “Why should I always have to do everything God’s way?”

Alternately, “Why does God define goodness?”

  • A person who wants to do his or her own will and be his or her own lord cannot hear the voice of God. A person like this cannot receive wisdom and will remain a fool unless that person repents.
  • We believe because God has revealed Himself to us. That is the meaning of the word, faith, as the Bible speaks of faith. It is that miraculous certainty that comes as we listen to His utterance. Without faith, it’s impossible to be certain about anything. If we have a proper attitude toward God, one of honor, respect, and obedience, then we will be able to hear Him. We will know His voice whether He speaks through the Bible, through a fellow Christian, through nature, or through any other means. If we don’t honor him, then we cannot possibly hear His voice. We fail to acknowledge Him when He speaks.
  • The fallacy of moralism and the is-ought fallacy are both fallacies of morality without God. You can’t logically get from is to ought by pure logic. It is irrational to think of a moral law without a moral law giver. And, the moral law giver has revealed Himself to every person. Some people love darkness rather than light, and they prefer to ignore Him. They refuse to acknowledge Him.

To try to explain truth to him who loves it not is but to give him more plentiful material for misinterpretation. George Macdonald

The reason that God defines goodness is because He is God, the Creator of everything, including all that demons that are posing as gods throughout the world. Why do you think that Satan spends so much time having his children teach evolution? Satan knows that the fact that God is eternal Creator that gives Him authority. God has revealed Himself and is plainly visible to every person. Every person, whether or not they have read the Bible or even had it available to them, can see Him. God is the ultimate good and goodness actually is a reflection of what God is. God is love. There is no love without God. Love is good.

The reason we believe is not based on physical evidence or human argument, though the observable physical evidence supports God’s existence and His Truth without the mental gymnastics that the Atheists and Evolutionists find themselves tangled in. It is based in the power of God. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word (utterance) of God. God speaks. God speaks to every person. Whoever will listen receives the faith that is of God. This is a supernatural belief that is not human-generated. It is a gift. That faith is the belief that what God has said is true. Before a person is born again, there is a history of hearing God’s voice. No one can come to Christ unless the Father draws him or her. A person is born again the moment that he or she hears God’s voice and receives faith to believe in Jesus as Savior from sin. In the same way, it is God who speaks and says that the Bible is the Word of God without error. When we hear His voice, then His faith comes, the supernatural belief that the Bible is the Word of God without error. Once God opens our eyes, we see that the Bible is the only source that is both internally and externally consistent. We cannot possibly believe unless we are having an active interaction with our Maker. Some Christians are not aware enough of their own experience to know this. That’s why we have all the previously-mentioned reasons for believing the Bible as the Word of God. (some caveats about hearing God’s Voice)

Interestingly, explanation given in the previous paragraph does not depend on circular reasoning or poor logic. It depends on God. This is the kind of faith that is what is really operating. It is based on revelation. Now, a naturalist will attack the whole idea of revelation claiming that revelation cannot be verified.
