Can you do anything and be saved?
Yes. Believe. This is the work of God. How Do I Do the Works of God? John 6:28-29 Then said they to him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
Interestingly, it is God who is giving you the belief. The word, faith, means belief and trust, but it is a supernatural belief and trust that comes from God as a gift. Faith is a gift from God. God gives no one any place for pride. Faith is not a rationalized belief. It is not something you can work up. It comes from God as a free gift. It is a supernatural belief that comes from God. There are some who may refuse to accept the free gift. That is true. However, God speaks to every person through many means, the Bible, a Christian giving a testimony, the creation, the consciences. I have heard of some Muslims and Hindus who have had Jesus come to them and speak with them directly and they came to the faith in this way. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by an utterance of God.
