How Can We Know With Genuine Authority?

It is the proclamation of the Gospel, not argumentation, that transforms minds. See Give them the Gospel.

There must be genuine Authority from which knowledge that is true knowledge must come.  There is no higher authority of God.  Thankfully, He is not far from any one of us.  He is within reach of every person.  He has provided a way for us to break down the barrier that stands between us and Him and He is eager to tell us His truth so that we can walk according to it.

Christians neither worship the Bible nor are led by the Bible.  Christians are followers of Christ Who speaks to them . . . largely through the Bible.  We are not independent but interdependent.  We recognize that our brothers and sisters in Christ have the living Christ residing within themselves and we honor the Christ who resides there.  We don’t know each other after the flesh, what is visible to the natural eye, but after the Spirit, what is visible to the spiritual eye.  May our vision continually improve as we walk in obedience to the Spirit of the living God.

It is by revelation that we can know.  God can reveal through the Bible.  God can reveal through His creation using the tools of science.  However, it is God who reveals.  In fact, without God, there is no reason to believe that our observations and logic are real or dependable. Science requires the God of the Bible as it’s defense for validity. Without God, we cannot know anything. Some people reject God because they don’t want to do His will. They hide this by saying that belief in God is irrational and based on circular reasoning.  This, of course, is not true.  Anyone can, however, use poor logic to believe in true things as well as false things, so some who believe in God do use circular reasoning.  The fact is that God is very near to every one of us, and He wants to have fellowship with each of us.  Whoever seeks Him finds Him.  We can only approach the Father through His Son, Jesus Christ since Jesus paid the price for all our wrong thoughts, words, and actions.  No one else could have possibly done this.

Of course, all human beings are subject to being fooled by our own minds.  In fact, the Bible is full of warnings about the deceptive nature of the human mind and the fact that we can’t even self-analyze.  For this reason, God provided the apostles as a gift to the Church until we come into complete maturity with our senses exercised fully and until we have complete discernment.  Some say that there are no apostles and then proceed to set themselves as the Chief Apostle of the Universe.  Others set man-made organizations in the position of the apostles.  Others are indeed false apostles, and it has always been so.  You can read about this problem in the Bible.  The lie, however, never made the truth less true.
