Three actions are in this verse: (1) asking for what you want, (2) watching to know what God wants, and (3) thankfulness in everything.
“Be anxious about nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6 Berean Literal Bible)
Here again, we see the same pattern. We pray, asking for what we want from God. In supplication, we seek God and His will. We thank God, which is the attitude that we need for prayer and supplication. We don’t come to God murmuring and complaining as the Hebrew children did in the wilderness, but we come giving thanks and rejoicing regardless of the circumstances.
