The Bible Without Christ

You need Jesus. He’s alive and knowable. ALL who sincerely and persistently seek Him find Him. Those who think human intellect can reason to truth need to reject that lie before they can focus on Jesus and receive understanding from Him.

But even to this day, when (the Bible) is read, a veil lies on their heart. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. . . . But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. (see 2 Corinthians 3)

The veil is the fleshly mind. It’s the human intellect. The Bible repeatedly warns you. Don’t lean on your own understanding, your theology and what you have been taught. Stay connected to Jesus continually. Look to Him. Be teachable. Jesus continually leads, teaches, and corrects every person who follows Him. He doesn’t reveal truth to you so you can disconnect from Him and walk on your own. His goal is that you are of one mind with Him.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (see Hebrews 12:2)

This turning to the lord and looking at Him is fixing our gaze on Him to the exclusion of our preconceived theological or philosophical ideas. The moment you doubt God’s ability to communicate, your intellect (which is deceitful and desperately wicked) starts to analyze, you become double-minded.

Now if any of you lacks wisdom (divinely given understanding that enables one to perceive and live according to reality), he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith, without doubting, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not expect to receive anything (no understanding of reality as it really is) from the Lord. he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. (see James 1)
