“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ ~ Matthew 7:21

Jesus mentioned people who were doing many wonderful works, but these people never knew Jesus. They never listened to His leading and teaching. They never yielded to His Spirit. He said, “Depart from Me you workers of iniquity. I never knew you.” And it goes deeper than that. Jesus is talking about knowing in the sense of creating New Life together. When He said, “I never knew you,” Jesus used the word “knew;” Jesus used the same word the Bible uses when speaking of a husband and wife having children. God wants a deep relationship with you. He wants to know you intimately and create New Life.
