“For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. Not only that, but we also who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.” (Romans 8:19-25)

This says “revealing of the sons of God.” Other translations say “manifestation of the sons of God.” The word translated as “revealing” is a word that means “taking away a veil.” In the Bible, the veil is the rebellious carnal nature. It’s the flesh. The adoption is the redemption of our bodies. We’re getting new bodies. Biblical adoption is different from today’s adoption. In Biblical adoption, the son must be born as a true son of the Father. The adoption happens when the son has matured to the point he can be set into a position of authority in the Father’s business.

You mature spiritually as Christ is built up in you and your fleshly carnal nature diminishes. The Bible explains how. Turn your attention to Jesus. Praise and thank Him. Ask Him your questions. Listen as He speaks into your mind and directs you. You will know the difference between your own self-talk and the voice of your Creator. You will begin to see His glory and the body of Christ, and His grace will begin to work through you in what you say. As you yield to His righteousness, you grow.

That brings us back to 1 John 3:2 that says, “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” Christ is in you. He will appear when He’s fully formed and your carnal nature is gone.

What is the bondage of corruption that creation needs to be free from?
What does it mean to get a new body through redemption?

The image and likeness of Christ is who you are. Christ in you can’t sin. The carnal flesh can’t do what’s right. Faith comes as you hear God’s voice. Then you receive God’s grace, which is God’s power to do what’s right. You allow God to speak His words and do His works through you. You let the love of God flow through you to everyone around you. When you do this, the Holy Spirit plants the Seed of Jesus Christ into your heart. You are changed by degrees to be like Him. This isn’t one and done. This is an ongoing process from glory to glory that is done by the Spirit of the Lord as you yield yourself to Him.

A day is coming when you will awake with the image of God.

“As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness (Psalm 17:15).”

You will have Christ fully formed within you. That doesn’t just happen while you sit back and do nothing. You must listen to God’s voice now. You must yield to His Spirit. The bride (the church) must have an intimate relationship with the Bridegroom. God keeps telling you to enter into the Spirit more completely and to enter into the authority that comes with faith. Then you have authority to take hold of the power of grace, and God’s grace will do God’s will through you. You, of course, must yield to God’s grace so He can do His will in and through you. He doesn’t force Himself on you.

“My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you (Galatians 4:19).”

Paul says he wants Christ to be fully formed within believers, showing that the process of spiritual maturity and transformation ends in complete victory.

“For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed (Romans 8:19-25).”

This refers to the future time when the sons of God (believers) will be fully revealed in glory.

PARTICIPATING IN GOD’S DIVINE NATURE IS A TRANSFORMATION THAT MAKES YOU MORE LIKE CHRIST

Peter speaks of participating in God’s divine nature, a transformation that makes you more like Christ. He gives a list of items you should add to your faith, and then, in 2 Peter 1:4, He says, “Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”

Those who know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior go to heaven when they die, but that’s not God’s ultimate plan. Death is temporary and won’t always exist. That’s hard to believe, but the Bible says, “We will not all die.” God wants to transform you into the image and likeness of Christ.

The ultimate goal is to fully become like Jesus and to have your spirit, mind, and body completely redeemed (Romans 8:19-23). This means you will be fully like Jesus and will be completely free from all things that hold you back. The way you get there is simple. You come into His presence by seeking Him, thanking Him, and praising Him. All who seek Him find Him. He leads, teaches, and corrects all who follow Him. In His presence, you hear His voice because He speaks into your mind. He shows you the difference between His voice and your own self-talk. He shows you who you are in Him.

The moment you were born again by believing in Jesus, you were changed. Your spirit was set free to serve God. God transformed your spirit from death to life. Your soul (mind) was changed a little bit too. They took on the nature of Jesus Christ, but you were split into two people in your mind. Right next to the holy, perfect Jesus Christ in you, you have a rebellious carnal nature. You are dead to that carnal nature. You are alive to Christ within you and Christ in you is your new self. God is transforming you into the image and likeness of Christ while the carnal nature slowly goes away.

Can God give us a vision of what we are now walking into? Do we see anything in Scripture? Yes, but the vision is incomplete. Scripture tells us eye has not seen nor has the ear heard about this glorious transformation. We see how Jesus appeared on the Mount of Transfiguration. We see the miracles in the Bible. The human mind has trouble seeing that the glory we are walking into is much, much, much higher than any of that.

Ask God to answer these questions:

What does it mean to participate in God’s divine nature?
How do God’s promises help you become more like Jesus?
What is God’s ultimate goal, which is much higher than dying and going to heaven?
What does it mean that death is temporary and won’t always exist?
How can seeking, thanking, and praising God bring you into His presence?

First John 3:2 says, “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”

What we will be has not yet fully appeared. He is appearing in us, but too much fleshly nature is still there, so it’s hard to see. We do see Him somewhat. As we see Him, we become like Him.

There are many speculative theologies and theories about how this will happen. We don’t understand all about this transformation, but you know what you must do. You must listen to God’s leading and yield yourself to His Spirit. It’s that simple. The future is glorious.

Ephesians 4:22-24 says, “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”

This passage speaks of putting on a new self, which is made to be like God in righteousness, echoing transformation into Christ’s likeness. We will ultimately be transformed to be like Jesus in His glory.

“Who, by the power that enables Him to bring everything under His control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like His glorious body.” (Philippians 3:21)

Colossians 3:9-10 says, “Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.”

This shows the process of renewal and transformation into the image of Christ as we grow in knowledge.

And 1 Corinthians 15:49 says, “And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man.” What a promise!

What does it mean to be a “child of God”?
How will we be like Jesus when He appears?
Why can’t we fully see what we will become yet or that what we will become isn’t fulfilled yet?
What does it mean that Jesus is appearing in us?
How do we “put off our old self” and “put on the new self”?

Your walk in the Spirit is not only a journey. It is also a war. The world would like to squeeze you into its mold. You have friends who have allowed the media to push and form them into an ungodly shape. They put pressure on you and want you to be as mixed up as they are. God tells you not to do it. For example, Romans 12:2 says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” God is able to look into the future. He foreknew all the choices you would make. Romans 8:29 says, “For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.” He wants you to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ.

Here’s another verse that talks about God’s plan for us to be shaped and transformed into the same image of Jesus: 2 Corinthians 3:18 “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” And here, Paul says he wants Christ to be fully formed in the believers. That shows that this transformation is a process: Galatians 4:19 “My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you.” Christ is in us, and He appears as we look for Him. Then the fleshly veil is removed, and we begin to see Him as He is, a many-membered body on earth in submission to the glorious Head in heaven. Jesus is the Head of the church.

Some people think you grow to be more like Jesus by human effort of doing all sorts of good things. That’s not true. And yet, you can grow to be more like Jesus, but your part is to listen to God and yield to His grace so His grace can work through you.

Changing to be like Jesus doesn’t just take one step. It’s a journey. Study the diagram. This diagram shows one step on this journey. Each step takes only a moment, and you just keep walking step by step to complete the journey. 2 Corinthians 3:18 says you are becoming more like Jesus every day. The Holy Spirit changes you from one level of goodness to another, making you more like Jesus. The veil is the sinful fleshly nature that keeps you from seeing spiritual things clearly. In this verse says we’re looking at the glory of the Lord without the fleshly veil as if we are looking into a mirror, and then we’re changed from glory to glory. It just keeps getting better. Colossians 1:27 says, “To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” First Thessalonians 5:23 tells you that you have three parts: a spirit, a soul (mind), and a body. Our spirits were transformed when we were born again. Our minds/souls are in process. Our bodies aren’t set free yet. The spiritual war is over control of our souls (minds). Will you let the devil control your mind, or will you turn your mind over to Jesus? The devil tries to convince you that you are still a slave because your body isn’t free. God set your spirit free the moment you accepted Christ as your Lord and King. Now, the devil tries to take over your mind, using bad TV shows, games, friends, books, and songs. And the devil has many other ways to try to take control of you. God speaks to you through your spirit to transform your mind to be like Jesus.

What does it mean to yield to God’s grace?
How does the Holy Spirit change you to be more like Jesus?

There are things we can know now. Some things God has hidden for now. Speculation leads to confusion. Even though we would like to fully understand all of this, it is a mystery for now. One day, we will understand it all. “On that day you will realize that I am in My Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.” (John 14:20)

You can know whether you are following the Holy Spirit or some other spirit. You could follow the spirit of the culture and do whatever you see other people doing. You could allow the TV or social media to lead you instead of following the Holy Spirit. Look at this warning in 2 Corinthians 13:5: “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?”

“Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.” (James 1:21)

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)

The flesh is officially dead. Don’t pay any attention to it.

“To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27)

“But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.” (Romans 8:10)

“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love…” (Ephesians 3:17)

Here’s the simplicity that is in Christ. Stay in His presence, listening to His voice. You know what you should do and what you should not do by His leading. Yield your will to His will so He does His works through you. That’s how you receive the implanted Word. The Word being planted in Jesus Christ. That’s how you grow in Christ.

What does it mean that Jesus is in His Father, and you are in Him, and He is in you?
How can you know if you’re following the Holy Spirit or something else?
What does it mean to examine yourself to see if you are in the faith?
What is the implanted Word?

Since you received Jesus into your heart, you no longer live a hopeless life. You have Christ in you as Galatians 2:20 tells you, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” This verse explains that Christ lives within believers, transforming their lives. Here’s another example in Colossians 1:27 which says, “To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Jesus speaks about His presence in your life. “But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.” (Romans 8:10) Christ dwells in your heart through faith “so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love…” (Ephesians 3:17)

We know how that works. Faith comes by hearing God’s Word, God’s leading. God’s Word is Christ, but He wants to put Christ into your heart. Christ authors faith in you, but you must receive it. That means, Christ writes the faith on your heart. When you receive the Father’s faith, you get access to God’s grace. When you yield to God’s grace to the point that God’s grace does God’s works through you, your heart has opened to receive Christ. This happens when you are born again and as you walk in the Spirit after you are born again. The only righteousness you will ever have is when God does His righteousness through you. When the Bible talks about your heart, it’s not talking about the organ that pumps blood through your body. That’s your physical heart, which has nothing to do with your heart that is your innermost mind and soul. The Bible is talking about your innermost mind, which is your soul. It calls your innermost being, “your heart.”

How can Christ be in your heart but not in your physical heart?
What is faith, and how does Christ put it in your heart?
What does it mean to be crucified with Christ?
How do you get more grace?

Jesus gives you wisdom and knowledge, but how?

Some people think Jesus in our hearts is just a figure of speech or that Jesus is in our physical beating heart. Neither of those is true. And yet, Jesus is in our innermost being. The Bible tells us about a fourth dimension in Ephesians 3:18-19, which lets us know there’s another dimension beyond the three physical dimensions. Your heart is your innermost being.

As you follow God, Jesus becomes more a part of you. James 1:21 says you should accept God’s Word, which can save you. God’s Word is God leading you. Jesus is God’s Word. You must accept Him. Jesus saves you from sin. He becomes your righteousness. When He works in you, you become more like Jesus (Romans 12:2). Jesus is not just a story; He lives in you with all authority, power, wisdom, and knowledge.

Jesus lives in you if you accept Him as your Lord. If He’s your Lord, He is your King. He is the one you obey. You look for His Spirit to lead you and do what He tells you to do.

You can have wisdom and knowledge from Jesus. He is the truth, and when He is in you, you have the truth. Without Jesus, no one can know anything. Even those who don’t know Jesus Christ write about this problem humans have with knowledge. God showed them they can’t have knowledge without divine revelation from Jesus, but they couldn’t accept what God said. Instead, they say, “No one can know anything for certain.” They leave out that part about God revealing the truth to them. If you’ve ever heard anyone say, “Everything is relative,” “There are no absolutes,” or “every person has his or her own truth,” they are claiming that no one can know anything. They are missing one important fact: Jesus is real and all knowledge is hidden in Him. He reveals knowledge to whomever He wills. You can know what the Spirit of Jesus reveals to you, but you can’t know anything beyond what Jesus reveals to you.

“Do not quench the Spirit.” (1 Thessalonians 5:19)

The flesh resists the Spirit.

“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” (Ephesians 4:30)

The Holy Spirit is in you to guide you. Listen. Yield.

“As for you, the Anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as His Anointing teaches you about all things and as that Anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in Him.” (1 John 2:27)

There is a place in the church for the ministry of the teacher, and the Holy Spirit may teach you through an Anointed teacher, but many teachers don’t have the Holy Spirit. They depend on human intellect and learning. They serve you yesterday’s manna. Even so, the Holy Spirit can be teaching you and giving you fresh manna specifically prepared for you for today.

“The gatekeeper opens the gate for Him, and the sheep listen to His voice. He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out. When He has brought out all His own, He goes on ahead of them, and His sheep follow Him because they know His voice.” (John 10:3-4)

“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake.” (Psalm 23:1-3)

The Lord guides you. That’s what the 23rd Psalm is about.

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’“ (Isaiah 30:21)

You have known many times when God has guided you in this way. God’s intent is that you come deeper into His presence and never leave. He wants you to flow with His wisdom and knowledge perpetually.
