You’re born again so you can grow to maturity. What is maturity then? Maturity is a state of purity with Christ fully formed within and the works of the flesh put to death. Maturity has two parts: edification and purification. Edification means building up. The Holy Spirit is forming Christ within you. He’s building you into the image and likeness of Jesus Christ. Purification is sanctification or holiness. God is purifying you. He’s removing the carnal, rebellious, fleshly nature that fights against God.
