If we follow anything other than Christ, we’ll end up with a party spirit and disunity. Sometimes, a party spirit can even develop around a certain godly man of God or a true doctrine to cause division in Christ’s body by taking the focus off Christ. If we listen to what the world presents as “the good people,” “the experts,” “the intellectuals,” or “the news source,” we will be deceived. Satan will put something in there to send us in the wrong direction. Be careful who and what you listen to, and make sure they are speaking by the Holy Spirit. Even the old trusted Bible commentaries can bind you up by implanting old wineskins in your mind that will resist what the Holy Spirit would lead you to. Many of these commentaries sprinkle serious errors and compromises in with what is true and good since a Godly writer sincerely believed those deceptions at the time of the writing.
