Jesus never did His own works. He always did the works of the Father. You come into spiritual maturity by allowing Jesus to do His works through you. That’s how you abide in the words of Christ.

Christ is also your holiness. Righteousness is Christ doing His works through you in the moment. Holiness is what you are becoming in Christ. Christ is the Holy One in you. Holiness is Christ formed in you and the rebellious, carnal nature gone.

A slave is redeemed from slavery. You were a slave to sin. You still act as a slave if you live according to your fleshly nature. Your fleshly nature is a slave to sin. Your fleshly nature can’t do anything right. God is setting you free. When He’s finished, God will fully redeem you and set you free from sin and the sinful nature of your flesh. He’ll set you free from the demonic principalities and powers that have been your slave masters. God will even redeem your body.
