You can’t store wisdom in wise sayings, creeds, memorized information, rituals, learned practices, or anything else. You need an ongoing and strong connection to the living Christ. You need an intimate relationship. You must always be ready for God to correct or redirect you from your preconceived ideas and the strongholds in your mind. The Holy Ghost must shed the love of God abroad in your heart continually.

For My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me the fountain of living waters, and hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water. ~ Jeremiah 2:13

A cistern is a hole in the ground to hold water. God is using a figure of speech. They didn’t literally dig holes in the ground. They tried to find some way to store God’s goodness without remaining connected to the living God. They didn’t want that intimate relationship. You need the constant flow of God’s Spirit to survive. Whenever you disconnect from God you disconnect from love, hope, joy, peace, righteousness, understanding, knowledge, goodness, wisdom, and sanity.

The fleshly mind will do just about anything to avoid a direct relationship with Christ. It can be very religious, but it wants to avoid knowing Christ. It is fine with Christian slogans, wise sayings, creeds, mantras, memorized information, rituals, learned practices, rules, and regulations. It doesn’t want to know Jesus intimately, listening to His voice and yielding to His Spirit.
