HOW GOD TRANSFIGURES US:

As you are led by the Spirit, Christ will bring you to a state of holiness in Christ little by little. He does this by doing His righteousness through you, and your part is to yield the members of your body to His righteousness. God shows us the Pathway from glory to glory, and we know the way. The Way is simple: Listen to God’s voice and yield to God’s Spirit.

Listen to God’s voice.

“While it is said, To day if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation” (Hebrews 3:15 KJV).
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4b KJV).

Yield to God’s Spirit.

“Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God” (Romans 6:13 KJV).
We call that “being led by the Holy Spirit,” and God made it a priority for us. Yet we haven’t fully taken hold of it. Why? When the Spirit leads us, we hear the voice of the Holy Spirit. He speaks a vision, and we see it. God tells us to ask Him for spiritual eyes to see and ears to hear. We can only recognize the gifts of the Spirit, the ministries in Christ’s body, and God’s leading as the Holy Spirit reveals them to us. We must also realize that everything good comes from God and we can’t self-generate anything good.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV).
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17 KJV).

Sweeping Out the Darkness

Some people have said you can make yourself pure by hunting down every stray thought and locking it down. They say you should react to every thought that isn’t from God, capture it, and bind it. Perhaps you grab them and put them into a box in your mind. Where do these theologians get that idea? It may come from this verse:

and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. ~ 2 Corinthians 10:5

How do you take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ? If you try to do this with human effort, you’ll make yourself crazy. It’s like trying to NOT think about elephants. The more you try to NOT think about elephants, the more they jump around in your mind. If you don’t like elephants, try NOT thinking about the sin that easily tempts you. You know your sin. I know mine.

You will frustrate yourself trying to sweep darkness out of a room. You must turn on the Light. The two verses before verse 5 tell you more about this spiritual warfare and turning on the Light.

For though we live in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh. The weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world. Instead, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We tear down arguments and every presumption set up against the knowledge of God; and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. ~ 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

You don’t wage war according to the flesh. You don’t try to sweep out the darkness. You have spiritual weapons with divine power to demolish the strongholds in your mind.

You built strongholds in your mind without consciously thinking about what you were doing. You don’t know what most of those strongholds are yet. They seem like reality to you. You know about some of your strongholds. You know about thoughts that creep in, thoughts the Holy Spirit brings to your attention. You don’t want to entertain those thoughts, but you can’t sweep them out. You know your thoughts. I know mine. The more you try to NOT think about them the more you think about them. They keep popping up.

A man-child company of mature children of God is being born out of the church.

A man-child company of mature children of God is being born from the church. They will rule over the nations with authority and power, and they will bear the fruit of the Spirit. They will execute justice, love mercy, and walk in humility as no one has ever done.

“And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to His throne” (Revelation 12:1-5).

Two things must happen to prepare us to qualify for this responsibility, and these are the two things the Holy Spirit has been doing in us as we listen to His leading and yield ourselves to His righteousness so He can work through us. First, the Holy Spirit forms Christ in us. He becomes our identity. Second, the Light of Christ demolishes the old fleshly nature we inherited from Adam. No one has seen anything like what’s coming. ‘Eye has not seen nor ear heard.’

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto My Father” (John 14:12 KJV).

No one has seen anything like what’s coming. Don’t try to imagine it. You can’t.

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9 KJV).

What are the limits of God’s power in His people? Those who overcome their fleshly natures and have Christ formed within must follow Christ. They are limited to the leading of the Holy Spirit. However, if the Holy Spirit asks them to move a mountain, the mountain will move. If the Holy Spirit asks them to raise someone from the dead, that dead person will come back to life. God isn’t limited, and Christ unveiled in His people isn’t limited. Those who doubt create their limits. Unbelief stops godly progress. God is calling mature sons and daughters to rule and reign in His kingdom.

“Then the kingdom and dominion, And the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, Shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And all dominions shall serve and obey Him” (Daniel 7:27 KJV). (How to Walk in God’s Glory Petros Scientia)

If the Holy Spirit leads us, that means we listen and follow (obey).

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God” (Romans 8:14 KJV).

If the Holy Spirit leads us, that means we listen and follow. As we listen and follow, the Holy Spirit changes us by degrees. He is bringing us to “the unity of the faith, and the knowledge of the Son of God.” He continues to transfigure us “to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.” In that blessed state, God will deliver the world from the bondage of corruption through us and bring it into the glorious liberty of the mature children of God. The fallen flesh is more confortable with a set of rules, principles, or laws than it is with allowing the Holy Spirit to lead and give power for righteousness. The flesh can interpret rules, principles, and laws so it can remain in rebellion against God. You can’t reform the flesh. You must die to self and live to Christ. When you come into Christ’s presence, His Spirit leads you. When you receive His leading His faith comes to you and gives you access to His grace. When you yield to His grace, His grace says His words and does His acts through you. When you yield to Him in this way, the fleshly nature loses control a bit and Christ is built up in you. That’s the only way God will transfigure you into the image and likeness of Christ.

The Holy Spirit has been leading us toward what the Bible calls the manifestation of the sons of God.

The Holy Spirit has been leading us toward a coming event the Bible calls “the manifestation of the sons of God.” As we have walked, the Holy Spirit has been transfiguring us: growing Christ in us while removing the fleshly veil.

“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the Glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God” (Romans 8:18-19).

The word “manifestation” is “apokalupsis” in Greek, and it speaks of removing the fleshly veil. This isn’t an event that just happens for no reason. The Holy Spirit has been leading us toward this event for decades. We grow into it. As we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us, we come to maturity.
