Beware of False Wisdom

2 Peter 2:12a and Jude 1:10 & 19 speak of those who are like brute beast, unable to process rational thought and only able to respond to their five senses because they don’t listen to the Holy Spirit.

<quote>
“The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance; it is the illusion of knowledge” (Stephen Hawking, atheist)

Stephen says this, but he can only create the illusion of knowledge. He can’t know truth. He refuses to acknowledge the Source of all truth. A fool fails to acknowledge God, but God warns us about the devilish “knowledge,” “understanding,” and “wisdom” of those who refuse to glorify Him.

“For the Lord has finished all his work against Mount Zion and against Jerusalem; he will punish the speech that comes from that willful heart of Assyria’s king and the haughty look in his eyes. He keeps bragging: ‘I’ve done it by the strength of my hand, and by my wisdom, because I’m so clever. I removed the boundaries of peoples, and plundered their treasures; like a bull I brought down those who sat on thrones.” (Isaiah 10:12-13 International Standard Version)

“You trusted in your own knowledge. You said, ‘No one sees me.’ Your wisdom and knowledge have misled you. You said in your heart, ‘I am the one, and there will be none besides me’” (Isaiah 47:10 International Standard Version)

“The wise men will be put to shame. They’ll be dismayed and taken captive. Look, they have rejected the message from the LORD! So what kind of wisdom do they have?” (Jeremiah 8:9 International Standard Version)

“This is what the LORD says: ‘The wise man is not to boast in his wisdom; the strong man is not to boast in his strength; and the rich man is not to boast in his riches. Rather, let the one who boasts, boast in this: that he understands and knows me, for I am the LORD who acts with gracious love, justice, and righteousness in the land. I delight in these things,’ declares the LORD.” (Jeremiah 9:23-24 International Standard Version)

“Because your heart is lifted up, and you have said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet you are a man, and not God, though you set your heart as the heart of God: Behold, you are wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from you: With your wisdom and with your understanding you have gotten yourself riches, and have gotten gold and silver into your treasuries: By your great wisdom and by your trade have you increased your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches: Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; Because you have set your heart as the heart of God; Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon you, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom, and they shall defile your brightness. They shall bring you down to the pit, and you shall die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas.” (Ezekiel 28:2b-8 King James 2000 Version)

“O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding worldly and empty chatter and the opposing arguments of what is falsely called ‘knowledge’” (Timothy 6:20 New American Standard Bible)

“For my people are foolish, they don’t know me. They’re stupid children, they have no understanding. They’re skilled at doing evil, but how to do good, they don’t know.” (Jeremiah 4:22 International Standard Version)

“Such wisdom does not come from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.” (James 3:15 Berean Study Bible)

Of course, all Scripture that mentions false prophets, false teachers, or false doctrines is warning against this counterfeit fake-knowledge, fake-understanding, and fake-wisdom.
